How to Add a Google-Embedded Map with Athena SEO Pro’s Generate Map Feature

Enhance your local SEO and improve user experience by embedding a dynamic, location-specific map on your website. This guide walks you through how to use Athena SEO Pro’s Generate Map feature to create and display a Google-powered map complete with schema markup—helping search engines better understand and index your location information.

Step 1

Starting from your WordPress Dashboard, hover over Athena SEO Pro.
In this demo, we’ll walk through how to use the Generate Map feature inside Athena SEO Pro.

Step 2

Click “Generate Map”.

Step 3

Click the “ENTER LOCATION:” field to begin typing your desired map location.

Step 4

For this demo, we’ll use Albany, NY as our location.
As you begin typing, the field will display auto-suggested location matches based on your input.

Step 5

Once Albany, NY appears as a suggested result, select it from the dropdown options.
This saves you time from typing the full location and ensures accuracy.

Step 6

After selecting your location, click “GENERATE MAP”.

Step 7

Athena SEO Pro will generate the map embed code along with the Google Schema data.
This schema is crucial because it gives Google more detailed information about your business location—boosting your SEO visibility in search results and Google Maps.

Step 8

Click “COPY CODE” to copy the generated map and schema code to your clipboard.

Step 9

Now you’ll need to paste the map code onto a webpage.
For this demo, we’ll create a new page, but you can also add the map to an existing one.
Click “Pages” in the WordPress Dashboard navigation.

Step 10

Click “Add New” to create a new page.

Step 11

Start by giving your page a title.
Click “Add title” and enter your desired heading (e.g., Albany Office Location).

Step 12

Next, you’ll need to add an HTML block to your page.
This is important—your map must be placed inside an HTML block to display properly.

Step 13

Paste the code into the HTML block.
If you have additional content (text, images, etc.), you can add or edit that as needed.

Step 14

Click “Publish” to make your new map page live on your website.

Step 15

Click “View Page” to see how your embedded map appears to site visitors.

Step 16

Here’s your fully generated and embedded map, live on your website—complete with Google Schema for SEO enhancement.
