How to Map Your URL in Athena SEO Live AI to Better Track Google Search Rankings
Unlock the power of URL mapping to improve how search engines understand, index, and rank your website. With Athena SEO Live AI, you can strategically connect your pages and keywords to build a smarter, more effective SEO structure. This guide walks you through using the URL Mapping feature to boost your visibility and search performance.
Step 1
Starting on your WordPress Dashboard, hover over Athena SEO Live.
In this demo, we’ll walk through the process of mapping your SEO-generated content pages using Athena SEO Live.
Step 2
Click “Athena SEO Live”.
Step 3
On the Athena SEO Live AI Google Dashboard, you can effortlessly map any page or blog post on your website for precise SEO tracking.
Step 4
Start by selecting your page or post.
The field opens a dropdown menu displaying all pages and posts. You can scroll through the list or start typing to quickly find the desired content.
Step 5
In the Competitor URL field, enter the URL of a top-ranking competitor.
To find this, search your keyphrase and location on Google, then copy the URL of one of the top organic search results (not a paid ad).
Step 6
In the Keyphrase field, enter the keyphrase and location used to create the page.
For this demo, since we’re mapping our “Local SEO Services Albany, NY” page, the keyphrase will be:
Local SEO Services Albany, NY.
Step 7
As you begin typing in the Keyphrase field, it will auto-populate with related top Google searches.
You can also experiment with different keyphrases to see which performs better in search rankings.
Step 8
Once all the fields are filled in, click “Add Mapping”.
Step 9
The mapping process may take a few moments. Once complete, the mapped data will appear in the table below.
-
The first column displays the URL you selected from your website.
Step 10
The second column shows the competitor URL you entered for comparison.
Step 11
The third column displays the keyphrase you used, showing which keyword the page is being tracked against in Google search results.
Step 12
Since this is a newly created page on a demo site, there is no existing ranking data.
For existing pages, the Top 3 Google Listings will show which URLs currently rank for your selected keyphrase.
The “Your Google Ranking” column may display “Not Found” for new pages, as in this example.
However, if the page has been active or submitted to Google Search Console, it should begin showing its position and ranking.
The Competitor Ranking section displays the positions the competitor holds in search results—such as Position 1 and Position 23. These reflect organic search positions, not paid ads.
Step 13
The final column includes action buttons for managing your mapped page:
-
Rescan: Updates your data in real time. Clicking this prompts Athena to reanalyze the competitor’s page, detecting content changes and generating optimized content to help you outrank them. You can choose to review and apply updates manually or set them to apply automatically. This ensures your content stays fresh and competitive.
-
Edit: Allows you to update the competitor URL or keyphrase without removing the mapping. This is useful if, for example, a new keyphrase like “SEO Local Services Albany, NY, USA” starts performing better. Editing lets you track how the existing page performs for the new phrase.
-
Delete: Removes the selected row from your mapping table.
